Founded in 1973, the Balada Romanian Folk Dance Ensemble is an enthusiastic and passionate Edmonton-based dance group devoted to the presentation and education of the many forms, styles, and types of Romanian folk dance and music. To this end, the group extensively participates in multicultural celebrations, folk festivals, and benefits for various charities in Alberta, as well as across Western Canada. The group has also completed many successful performance tours worldwide including visits to Romania, where they delighted and amazed audiences with the authenticity of their dances. Balada is proud of the way in which it combines authenticity and audience appeal in its dance suites, largely due to the talents of many instructors and choreographers.
